Knuggets of Knowledge

What do I/we want out of this/ our class?

I want to write for a living. I’m still working out for myself what exactly that means. However, I know that the technology of today is shifting the way writing comes to the people and the way writing is perceived by the people. I was raised by a couple of intellectual, baby-boomer hippies who now stare at their iPhones like they pulled it out of the Area 51 goody bag before leaning over to me and asking me how to “turn the damn thing off.” A majority of the knowledge I garnered from them as a kid had nothing to do with technology. They gave me a love of writing and of literature and of truly thoughtful arguments, but I have had to teach myself most of what I know about the digital age. This class will hopefully help me bridge the gap between having interesting ideas, criticisms, etc. in my head that my parents, for instance, had to keep mostly to themselves, and being able to put the information I have and want to contribute out there without over-sharing in a gauche flexing of the incredible freedom the internet has provided us.
